The professional disposal and processing of scrap and metal is very important for the steel industry and metal processing companies. Recycling scrap metal not only saves valuable resources, but also considerable amounts of energy. Stainless steel and aluminium make up the largest proportion of recycled metal. However, materials such as copper, brass, zinc and even electrical scrap, which usually has to be disposed of and processed separately, are also included in this waste stream.
Our shredders from ARJES are the perfect solution for shredding light scrap, as they work efficiently and sort out foreign materials such as plastics and other non-metallic components. Thanks to the magnetic separators installed as standard, ferrous and non-ferrous metals are reliably separated from each other. This process forms the basis for high-quality recycling and resource conservation in metal processing.
From small cars to SUVs – our two-shaft shredders have already shredded a wide range of end-of-life vehicles and processed many other light metals such as aluminium or sheet metal waste. In addition to the targeted volume reduction, the separation of the metals contained is particularly important in order to avoid subsequent quality losses during recycling.
Our slow-speed two-shaft shredders are designed to reduce the volume of scrap metal. From mobile to stationary recycling plants, entire vehicles, car bodies, engine blocks, aluminium profiles, sheet metal waste, refrigerators, washing machines and other electrical appliances are shredded on behalf of metal processing and recycling companies. By using the overbelt magnets installed as standard, ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be reliably separated and sorted out.
Disposing of and recycling scrap metal is a complex process that depends on the type of material and its intended use. In Germany, around 20 million tonnes of scrap metal are recycled every year. Shredding and recycling scrap reduces energy consumption in the manufacture of new products by up to 50%. Many metals can be recycled almost infinitely, which makes the automotive and light scrap waste stream one of the most important recyclable materials in our circular economy.

Recycling of scrap metal? This is a job for the two-shaft shredders in the ARJES heavy-duty class. For shredding light scrap such as aluminium or old electrical appliances, we recommend the mobile TITAN 900 and the stationary TITAN 900 e-pu/d-pu to our customers. For more demanding applications such as the shredding of end-of-life vehicles, white goods and engine blocks, our heavyweights TITAN 950 and 950 e-pu/d-pu, with a shredding capacity of 20 – 30 tonnes per hour, are used.
