Around 70–80% of the world’s waste tires are processed and largely recycled today. Discarded car tires often come from workshops, car dealerships, or collection points and must be disposed in an environmentally friendly manner. They usually consist of synthetic rubber, textile cord inserts, steel wires and other materials that are sorted and processed in specialized recycling plants.

For the pre-shredding of passenger car, truck, earthmoving, and agricultural tires (EM and AS tires), as well as other rubber waste, ARJES two-shaft shredders are used to separate the various components. Magnetic separators sort out ferrous foreign materials such as steel wires, which is essential for subsequent processing.

Facts about tire recycling

In the EU, the material recycling of waste tires is a priority. While thermal recovery has steadily declined in recent years, the share of recycling has continuously increased. Rubber recyclates have many positive properties and can therefore be used flexibly. Whether as floor coverings, asphalt additives, anti-slip mats, ramps, path edgings, noise barriers, sealants, and much more. Products made from recycled rubber are durable and a successful example of a functioning circular economy.

Our recommendation for shredding of scrap tires

Our TITAN class is the first choice for the demanding and continuous shredding of rubber and tire waste. The mobile TITAN 900 or 950 as well as the stationary TITAN 900 e-pu/d-pu handle large quantities of scrap tires with ease. The TITAN 950 e-pu/d-pu masters particularly demanding tasks, such as the shredding of OTR and AS tires with a high proportion of wire mesh, with maximum efficiency, making it ideal for intensive continuous use in tire recycling. Small to medium quantities of car and truck tires as well as rubber waste can be processed with the mobile and stationary two-shaft shredders of our COMPAKTOR and EKOMAXX lines. These shredders offer moderate throughput and are suitable for medium-sized companies that want to combine efficiency with flexibility in the range of applications.
